Ellie, Piero, Steve and Trevor arrived early again, for another full day's assembling. Livio and Marco arrived with an electrician, Tijohn, to look at our air-conditioning unit. He confirmed, after a little persuasion, that it wasn't working, and I know some of you experts out there will know what I'm talking about when he said the unit needed topping up. This couldn't be done straight away because the supplies weren't on Maio and the re-charging gas had to be brought from Praia.
To make himself useful, Tijohn put up a temporary TV aerial for us. Then we all went over to the Bela Vista hotel bar for a drink and Magdalena let us use her internet connection on our laptop.
We made another trip into Vila do Maio, getting lifts from passers-by each way. We found the post office (correios) and bought some postcards (not for sale in the post office) in the 'container' café just beside the church. By the time we had written the cards and had a drink, the post office was shut even though it wasn't even 4pm. We know we'll be home long before the cards get there.
Vila do Maio is crying out for a location map pf the shops. None of the roads are named and it can be a bit of a maze. Maybe this is a project for another day.
After a swim in the lovely warm sea, we settled down to watch our new television channel. The advertisements seem to go on for longer than the programme. I'd like to say that I'll never complain about English TV again, but I know I will.
