After our usual lie in, we set off for the long walk into Villa do Maio at 07.30. We very nearly made it to the airport when an Aluguer (pick-up truck taxi) picked us up and took us into the town. We gave the driver 300CVE (about £2.50)
We then explored the top end of town behind the Post Office. There we found the local school and all of the 'grown up kids' waiting to start, with their smart light brown shirts and blouses and dark brown trousers for the boys and culottes for the girls.
Getting ready for the long day at school, I remember that feeling. This is the mural on the wall outside the main entrance 'Aids awareness' (not graffiti).
We bought some snacks at the 'Pick Pay' supermarket and sat down at the church square under a shaded tree to eat our 'breakfast'.
We stayed in Vila do Maio for about an hour or so and started to walk back to the complex when Livio stopped to give us a lift.
In the afternoon, Marco came to see us with a price for the work we asked to be completed. The mosquito screens on the windows will cost us 180 euros, the TV antenna including moving the aerial socket behind the TV and an additional antenna socket on the wall in the double bedroom together with the main electric socket to be concealed behind the TV that will eventually go there, is 200 euros. We also asked for an extra night stand, so that this can be used as a coffee table 45 euros. He will come to see us tomorrow with a price of the 'bird screens'. All of this will be subject to his 10% commission on top.
