According to the vice-president of Cabe Verde Fast Ferry's board of directors, Nelson Gregor, the ferry will be officially handed over to the company this weekend, and on Monday will be sent off to Cape Verde on a large shipping vessel. Gregor explains that the ship will be accompanied by a helicopter during part of the trip for security and other reasons.

Cabo Verde Fast Ferry believes that the trip should take between 29 and 30 days, depending on navigability conditions. As such, Kriola should arrive in Cape Verde between December 25 and 29 and begin operating in the first days of January. The vessel is being anxiously awaited in Cape Verde, particularly on the islands of Fogo, Brava and Maio, which are particularly affected by the lack of reliable and regular transportation.

The inaugural voyage by the hydrofoil will likely be marked by a great deal of pomp and circumstance. Among other reasons, the enterprise marks the first time Cape Verdean entrepreneurs residing abroad and in Cape Verde joined forces to promote a large-scale enterprise aimed at benefiting the country.

"Within two or three days after the Kriola's arrival, we intend to carry out its maiden voyage from Santiago to Fogo and Brava. In the main city on each of these three islands, different acts will be held to mark the beginning of operations of Fast Ferry's first high-speed vessel", says Nelson Gregor, who adds that on December 1, the company will announce the prices to be practiced for tickets and cargo transportation.

The businessman stressed that since 1 December, to announce the Fast Ferry fare that will perform for different types of passenger and cargo. Gregor Nelson adds that the company is now selecting 70 members to its staff, following a public tender held for this purpose which was attended by 1,300 candidates. Those chosen must integrate the various administrative departments of the ship and crew CVFF Kriola and Freedom. Rather, it will undergo special training. The goal, remember that the operator is to provide the Cape Verdeans a high quality service.

After all, this first catamaran built from scratch, it's modern and fast, so it has nothing to do with the "junkyards" that have been imported and operate in coastal Cape Verde. After the entry of Kriola, the freedom came between April and May 2011 for this case, connect the Windward Islands. In addition to faster, the new units have a capacity to carry 158 passengers, 20 cars and light trucks in three containerized system.
